Often working with package installation we get these errors of Multilib. But they are rather simple to resolve as everything that needs to be done is already mentioned in the logs, but as always i was lazy enough not to read and waste time googling it for quiet sometime. But the solution was mentioned in the log and redhat itself has an article on it. The error looks like this.
Error: Multilib version problems found. This often means that the root cause is something else and multilib version checking is just pointing out that there is a problem. Eg.: 1. You have an upgrade for net-snmp-libs which is missing some dependency that another package requires. Yum is trying to solve this by installing an older version of net-snmp-libs of the different architecture. If you exclude the bad architecture yum will tell you what the root cause is (which package requires what). You can try redoing the upgrade with --exclude net-snmp-libs.otherarch ... this should give you an error message showing the root cause of the problem. 2. You have multiple architectures of net-snmp-libs installed, but yum can only see an upgrade for one of those architectures. If you don't want/need both architectures anymore then you can remove the one with the missing update and everything will work. 3. You have duplicate versions of net-snmp-libs installed already. You can use "yum check" to get yum show these errors. ...you can also use --setopt=protected_multilib=false to remove this checking, however this is almost never the correct thing to do as something else is very likely to go wrong (often causing much more problems). Protected multilib versions: 1:net-snmp-libs-5.7.2-47.el7.i686 != 1:net-snmp-libs-5.7.2-48.el7_8.1.x86_64
Now if read carefully just one package has issues exactly and that too because its installed from a different repository or maybe of a different architecture. So in order to fix it. these are 2 non invasive solutions. Remove the sucker altogether. And then reinstall this from your stock repositories.
yum remove net-snmp-libs -y
yum install <whateveryouwant> --exclude=net-snmp-libs* -y
Or the second one is to exclude this from even installing in the first place.
Now * is important becuase it might want to give you options of arch neutral or i686 for an x64. So better to use *.
